Lutjanus is the self titled conceptual ambient and dark ambient sound art Project by renowned artist Lutjanus, of Fear of the Deep Blue and Paranoid Autophobia fame. Lutjanus is defined as conceptual, as the design basis for Lutjanus pieces are the telling of an auditory story through the medium of minimalistic sound experience in one long and evolving track. Lutjanus pieces are characterised by feedback, instrumentation, manipulated fields of minimalism, and themes that evolve and tie back in on each other. All sounds are either built from scratch, or recorded, and then fused together, deconstructed and reconstructed, the same as an artist would mix colours and apply them to canvas in the right shades and amounts to create a piece which is both interesting and emotionally moving.

Much like an artists finished canvas, Lutjanus tracks are not always pleasing. The aim is to invoke deep and primal emotions, and mould and shape them to generate an evolving mood, that after a length of time will make you feel like you have been submerged in sensory molasses, and emerged again having had your emotional boundaries, widened, pushed, abrased, burnt, torn, caressed, and seduced.

Lutjanus works with both the building blocks of sound and emotion, blending the two together to form what could only be described as nightmarish ecstasy.
