All Lutjanus releases are available here for purchase. Links to iTunes are also included if you would like to purchase from there. Coming soon are some sound bytes of all tunes for sampling. (Note that the sound bytes are really small compared to the actual tracks, and you wont get a sense of the overall art piece, just a sense of the sound).

Deep Cognitive Shift (2008) – 41 minutes – Click the link for purchase at iTunes

Deep Cognitive Shift

Deep Cognitive Shift was conceived in the summer late 2008. It tells the story of someone who is at piece, but delving deeper into their psyche, and their true feelings start to show. Deep Cognitive Shift starts as a tranquil genuflection towards summer, stability and health, but “shifts” towards a darker place, populated by dark thoughts, ambient drones and disturbing soundscapes. The listener manages to get themselves under control at towards the end of the journey, returning to the peace and stability of the beginning, but that hint of darkness lurks beneath and will not be extinguished. Deep Cognitive Shift is the perfect blend of dark ambient and conceptual ambient. It is a mesmerising journey that will leave you thinking about yourself for a long time to come…

Melancoholic (2009) – 72 minutes – Click the link for purchase at iTunes

Melancoholic

Melancoholic was recorded during a pretty bleak time for Lutjanus, as reflected in the title of the piece and also the cover art work. Melancoholic uses eerie feedback and incredible pulses from the bass guitar. Coupled with this are dramatic wailing soundscapes that suck you down into mesmerising self reflection. Melancoholic is not a comfortable track. It makes you feel as though you have at least 2 personalities and they are always fighting with each other. The droning gong and subsonic pulses lead you out into a sense of desolation and emptiness. This track is highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore the darker sides of themselves. This is dark ambient at its best…

Look to Sea (2013) – 48 minutes – Click the link for purchase at iTunes

Lutjanus - Look to Sea

Look to Sea is a piece created especially as a live piece for the art exhibition of Julie Hylands, which ran in October 2012. It is a conceptual piece, manifested to represent the sonic aspect of Julies work, and merged seamlessly with the atmosphere of the exhibition. Look to Sea was adapted into an album that could be purchased through the link above. It tells the story of a being, peacefully floating underwater, listening to the sounds of a cyclone above. Surrounded by whale song and birdlife, the piece migrates through an oceanic playground to end up coming ashore. There is no darkness in this peace, it is for all who love conceptual ambient music that tells a story.
